09.10.2012 Land Art Generator Initiative 2012: Freshkills Park Competition

LLL's submission, Electric Meadow is one of 25 shortlisted proposals for Land Art Generator Initiative 2012: a design competition for power-generating public art ideas at the future Freshkills Park on Staten Island, formerly Freshkills landfill. 06.17.2011-01.21.2012. Sheldon Galleries' Bernoudy Gallery of Architecture, St. Louis, MO

Round Up (After Monet) and Fractal Garden are featured in Material Landscapes, an exhibiton curated by Liane Hancock, Senior Lecturer and Co-Director of the Materials Resource Center in the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis. The show specifically emphasizes the employment of materials in landscape design which critically engage contemporary design issues in landscape architecture.

The exhibition features work by the following eight award-winning landscape architecture firms: D.I.R.T. studio, dlandstudio, ESKYIU, Kaseman Beckman Advanced Strategies (KBAS), Legge Lewis Legge, PEG office of landscape + architecture, Stoss Landscape Urbanism and WANTED Landscape, LLC.

This show continues the dialogue on landscape architecture established by recent initiatives in the St. Louis area - including the international design competition to reshape the area surrounding the Gateway Arch, the creation of Citygarden, the renovation of the Old Post Office Plaza, and the launch of a new Master of Landscape Architecture program at Washington University.

04.2011. Milano, Italy AtCasa.it, the design portal of Corriere della Sera in Milan, presents 'Garden At Home', a special project during the days of Design Week, (Salone del Mobile) in Milan, Italy.

Thirty international designers were invited to make the idea of 'green' more accessible in the city and to present small and simple DIY home gardening projects for an online project and an exhibition of the prototypes during Design Week shows in Milan.

Garden AT Home is curated by Annalisa Rosso, with the setting of designer Elena Comincioli and in collaboration with Daniele Belleri.

Exposition a la Centre de Design at UQAM, Montreal, Canada Entitled Cultiver son Jardin / Minding the garden [phase 2], this exhibition focuses on the Festival achievements from 2000 to 2010 and puts to the front the experimental approach lived by garden and landscape designers at the Festival. This exhibition will also allow a wider audience that has never been able to reach Métis, to touch and feel the world of contemporary gardens from inside. BGL, a Collective of artists that participated twice at the Festival, are playing with plants, water, earth, air, to re-create an experimental true garden at the center of the exhibition's room.

10.18.2010. Austin, Texas Legge Lewis Legge receives an Austin Community Arts award for outstanding commitment and contribution to the public art project Elevated Prairie. Recognized were outreach efforts by LLL through community education, and time spent working in the project with American Youthworks Environmental Corps.

Istanbul, Turkey LLL partner Murray Legge AIA has won an American Architecture Award presented by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Center for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies, for Lost Pines Chapel. The American Architecture Awards are the highest and most prestigious distinguished building awards in the United States that honor new and cutting-edge design. This annual program also promotes American architecture to our public audience in the U.S. and around the world.

06.2010 Dallas Texas Murray Legge, AIA in collaboration with Legge Lewis Legge, LZT Architects Inc., and Johnson/McKibben Architects has been commissioned to design a permanent public park pavilion for the City of Dallas. The City of Dallas Department of Parks and Recreation Park Pavilion Project seeks to introduce exemplary architecture to the city through the commissioning of park pavilions by nationally and internationally recognized architects. Construction is schedule for Spring 2011.

03.26.2010 Premiere of Il était deux fois un jardin / Twice Upon a Garden
A documentary film by Philippe Baylaucq about the International Garden Festival at Jardins de Metis, Reford Gardens, in Grand Metis, Quebec, Canada. Premiere screening will be at the Canadian Centre for Architecture, Friday, March 26 at 6.30 pm as part of the 28th International Festival of Films on Art (FIFA).
The beautiful cinematography by Marc Gadoury shows both the serenity of Metis and the frenzy surrounding the creation of the Festival gardens. The première will be followed by a discussion moderated by Claude Paquin, editor of Formes magazine, with the film’s director, Philippe Baylaucq and Alexander Reford, designers of A4, artist David Ross and Marie-Claude Robert, director of the Association des architectes paysagistes.
Tickets are on sale via the FIFA website (www.artfifa.com) or at the ticket office of the Place des Arts (514 842-2112 or 1 866 842-2112). There are only 40 tickets left for the première. The film will also be shown on March 27 and March 28.

09.23.2009–10.25.2009: LLL's Elevated Prairie is included in Elsewhere Texas at the Architecture Center Houston. This exhibition features significant architectural projects completed since the year 2000 throughout Texas. The exhibition travels to Austin, Texas, opening on Friday, January 15th, 2009, at the Austin Center for Architecture.
