Each pole is bird species-specific or migration group specific, based on migration routes on the Atlantic Flyway, which goes through Raleigh. Each pole is equipped with 5 artistic elements of weathering steel that are attached to the pole. At the top is a profile of a bird, a N-S-E-W directional vane and a flat profile of the same bird species in flight. At the same height at the flight profile is a sign-like CNC-cut design representing specific habitat foliage or perch. Next are three place signs that point to far migration destinations or nearby local habitats of the species.
At the bottom of the pole are aluminum seats which are photo-etched with species information and an artistic behavioral-related illustration.
